Inspirational pictures and quotes will decorate the inside of the Northbridge Tunnel on the Graham Farmer Freeway this Sunday as part of the fifth anniversary of HBF Run for a Reason.
Quotes and images will be projected onto the walls of the tunnel as participants of the 12km run pass through the tunnel.
HBF public affairs and events media consultant Fleur Wylie said decorating the tunnel was a nice way to celebrate and thank Western Australians who participated in HBF Run for Reason events over the past five years.
Each quote or moving image will be separated by a silhouette of a runner which will move across the projected frame to give the impression they are travelling alongside the people taking part.
“A lot of our participants say that it’s actually one of the reasons why they signed up for run, just to run through the tunnel,” Mrs Wylie said.
Chloe White, a first time participant in the HBF Run for a Reason, is running the 12km course with her family.
She says she is excited about seeing the inspirational tunnel projections which she thinks may inspire participants to cross the finish line.
“I guess people will see the projections and be reminded why they’re doing it and run just that bit faster,” Ms White said.
More than 30,000 people have already signed up to complete the run this Sunday with HBF reaching the $1 million mark this morning in money raised for charity.
