A man is in hospital with minor burns after his boat caught fire at Hillarys Boat Harbour, north of Perth, early this morning.

The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was taken to Joondalup Heath Campus with minor burns and and smoke inhalation and has since been moved to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

A spokesperson from the hospital said he was in a stable condition.

A DFES spokesperson said the cause of the fire was accidental.

She said the emergency call was made at 12:30am. Four fire crews attended the fire and it was quickly brought under control.

Damage to the boat, named ‘Humptydoo’, was estimated at $70,000.

The boat has since been taken out of the water.

The fire was contained to one boat and there were no other injuries.
