International Day against Homophobia is today

Today is the Internaional Day against Homophobia.

The commemoration, which is held every year on May 17, started in 2004 and was designed to draw the attention of policymakers, the public, and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people.

The date marks the anniversary of the World Health Organisation’s decision to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1992.
