After more than 50 years in Dianella, Channel Nine Perth has relocated to St Georges Terrace in the city.
The station started operations at the new studios today after confirming the move last year.
Journalist and news presenter Tracy Vo said the technology at the new studio was state-of-the-art.
“It’s a new era in television in Perth, no one else has this technology that we’ve got,” she said.
The facility occupies 2500sq m of office space and accommodates all the station’s operations with two studios, a control room and media exchange facilities.
Vo said the CBD was the right choice for the station, with the central location and proximity to parliament house allowing for easier news reporting.
“It will be a lot easier for us to get to every location for a breaking news story,” she said.
The site features a new curved screen video wall and a glass viewing window that allows audience involvement as the news goes to air live.
“Our viewers will not see anything like it and they get to see it tonight at 6 o’clock,” Vo said.
“Everyone’s working really hard to make sure that there aren’t any glitches. We’re hoping that it’s a smooth ride and everyone’s very excited.”
