A police officer has been admitted to hospital with injuries to the face, arm, leg and hand after being punched and bitten while escorting an aggressive man to a police vehicle.
Police were advised a person they wished to speak to about several thefts was at a fast food outlet on Mirrabooka Ave in Mirrabooka this morning.
The man reportedly became aggressive toward the two police officers and both were punched to the face. One was bitten.
A male police officer was sent to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital to be treated for facial, arm, leg and hand injuries, while a female officer was also treated at the scene for minor hand and leg injuries.
A 30 year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
